At-Home Exercises After a Car Wreck [Chiropractic]

Wondering why performing chiropractic exercises is often recommended after being involved in a car wreck? The fact that you can experience a wide variety of injuries after being in a car collision often makes it a good idea for you to perform certain exercises at home that can help heal your injuries. Common injuries sustained in a car wreck include soft tissue injuries, sprains, strains, bruises, fractures and concussions.

About chiropractic care

Learning more about how chiropractic care services can help you is a great idea after you have been in a car wreck. An experienced chiropractor will often prescribe at-home care exercises for patients who have sustained minimal injuries, as this will help them heal better and faster. At-home chiropractic exercises are performed with a goal of reducing pain, reducing any muscular tension, reducing any inflammation and improving overall mobility, all of which help heal the body.

At-home exercises after a car wreck

The following is a list of common and therefore, popular, at-home exercises that can help someone heal from any injuries sustained in a car wreck.

Back pain: pelvic tilt

This at-home exercise is one that will help strengthen the front and back muscles. Since back pain is one of the more common complaints people have after being involved in a car wreck, this exercise specifically targets the back by making the muscles in the back stronger. Starting position is lying down on one’s back with the knees bent up. The next thing to do is to firmly tighten the butt and abdominal muscles and then lift the butt off the floor for five seconds. Repeat five times.

Neck pain: chin tucks

This chiropractic exercise is used to help strengthen and therefore heal any neck-related injuries that may have been sustained in a car wreck. The starting position is either standing up or sitting down on a solid chair. The next step is aligning the chin so it is parallel to the floor and then pulling the head straight backward. It is necessary to hold the head in this position for 20 seconds at a time. Repeat three times.

Shoulder pain: skyward stretch

This at-home chiropractic exercise for treating shoulder pain after being involved in a car wreck is important, as the shoulders are made up of tendons, tissues, muscle and bone. Since the shoulders have an important role in daily life, skyward stretches are recommended to treat shoulder pain. The starting position is standing. The next step is bringing the hands outward and then up over the head, keeping the palms of the hands together for about 15 seconds. Slowly lowering the arms while making wide circles is the final step. Repeat five times.

Need to make a chiropractic appointment?

While the above chiropractic at-home exercises are some of the most useful and therefore, most popular, exercises for treating back pain, many times people are in need of an experienced chiropractor to address their back problems.
